ISSI provides Internet services to design web sites, to create application solutions accessible with universal clients (Internet browsers), and to construct e-commerce sites. With our extensive background in designing database management systems, ISSi brings expertise in enabling database use on the Web, in designing web-based workflow systems, and in providing e-commerce solutions. ISSI also has extensive experience in providing Internet applications and support services to our clients.

Web Site Design

ISSI has designed web sites to convey quantitative information, to allow searchable databases, and to enable e-commerce.

• For the National Association of Attorneys General, ISSI created a web site enabling secure moderated electronic discussions.

• For the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), ISSI designs and develops documents and posters supporting Transportation Safety Programs in print format and for publication on the Web in HTML and Adobe Acrobat, accessible to interested citizens nationwide. www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people

Web Publication of Databases

Publishing databases on the web involves programming both the user interface for searching and retrieving data and expert use of the database tools for maintaining and administering the database. ISSI has published Oracle, Access and SQL Server databases on the World Wide Web.

• For the National Transportation Safety Board, ISSI published the database of airline crash data.

• For NHTSA, ISSI develops and supports applications to publish databases of safety related engineering data from motor vehicle crash tests.

ISSI takes advantage of a variety of Oracle web application development tools as well as Java development tools including CASE methodology, and supporting CGI programs to provide efficient, secure and supportable Web access to customer databases. www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/

E-commerce

Electronic commerce encompasses the entire range of providing commercial services using the Internet. All currently paper-and telephone-driven parts of the business supply chain are opportunities for moving to electronic commerce. Using tools including Microsoft Site Server, Lotus Domino and IBM's net.Commerce, ISSI has designed and developed web sites built around specialty bookstores, and business-to-business e-commerce sites.

For the Special Libraries Association, ISSI built an electronic bookstore to sell the association's books and monographs. For the Civil War Trust Association, ISSI built an electronic bookstore containing one of the widest selections of books, photographs and other materials from the Civil War. For various wholesale distributors, ISSI is building electronic commerce sites around the IBM net.Commerce software.

Web Administration and Hosting

Web sites consist of programming, graphics and textual content stored on a computer server. To setup a Web site, the server platform is configured; the application software is installed; security features enabled; the programming code and content is added. On-going administration tasks include checking security logs for unauthorized usage, checking for system faults or errors, and ensuring satisfactory backup procedures are followed.

ISSI maintains our own web site www.issinet.com and hosts web sites for clients at their request. ISSI's hosting services include application for domain names on the client's behalf, provision of IP addresses, complete server system administration and T1 access to the Internet for the web server maintained at our site. ISSI provides onsite support for clients who prefer to maintain web servers at their own location.
