It’s the moment everyone (in the Speax office) has been waiting for: World Continence Week Eve!! Starting tomorrow, June 18, we’re celebrating the 10-year anniversary of WCW by launching a movement to destigmatize women’s bodies and shift (read: start) the conversation around drips, trickles, leaks, and floods. 1 in 3 women leak a little, but #threeinthree of us have the power to support, engage with, and change the way we talk about this health issue.

What is World Continence Week, Exactly?

WCW is a celebration of how far we’ve come, and it’s the party we need to keep pushing forward. What started out in 2008 as a one-day event is now an entire educational week devoted to spreading awareness about bladder health, spearheaded by organizations like The Simon Foundation, the World Federation of Incontinence Patients (WFIP), and your very own Speax team. This week we want to get people talking about (in)continence on a global (possibly galactic?) scale. Our bods do so much for us, but when they’re a little leaky it’s easy to be consumed by that fateful combination of betrayal and actual, damp terror. The truth is: leaking happens, and we need to eradicate shame and replace it with a culture of acceptance. Why? For starters, bladder leaks are more common than hay fever, but on average it takes a woman seven long years to talk about pelvic floor health with her doctor. …How Can I Participate?

Whether you’re a leaking lady or ready to step up as an ally, we’ve brainstormed a few easy ways to kick off your celebration:

1. Download our handy WCW kit! We’ve put together a digital goodie bag complete with early glimpses of our #threeinthree campaign, and a handy one-sheet for sharing the campaign’s message all week long.

1. Post on social media: Adding your voice to the campaign via social media is real cute and easy. In addition to ready-to-go imagery for Facebook and Instagram, we’ve also included suggested captions and our #threeinthree hashtag to help spread the word and build community.

2. Start talking… to us, your friends, your family, that new leak support chapter you’ve just decided to found. You can also chat with other iconic women in the comments below, reach out to our CX team, or tag us on social media. A few icebreakers include: hi, help, and how’s it going?

It’s our goal to break the final frontier of body stigma and make it easy-_pee_sy to talk about our perfectly imperfect bods, whenever we need to. Help us start the movement tomorrow, June 18!
